Historical Knowledge
Thai basil has been cultivated for centuries in Southeast Asia, especially in Thailand and Vietnam. We have chosen Bai Horapa. It belongs to the same plant family as classic basil, but has been specially bred for its anise-like aroma and heat tolerance – making it an indispensable spice in traditional South Asian cuisine.
Thai basil contains essential oils such as estragole and linalool, which are known for their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. It can aid digestion, reduce inflammation, and contribute to relaxation through its aromatic compounds.
With its sweet, spicy, and slightly licorice-like flavor, Thai basil adds special complexity to curries, stir-fries, soups, and fresh salads. Its strong leaves retain their aroma even when heated – unlike other basil varieties.
